Why are Activist Librarians Leading Children to Read Obscene Content?

pepnc4

Many children are being exposed to inappropriate books and materials at school. Some schools throughout our state are celebrating Banned Books Week featuring displays, posters, and introductions to books that are considered obscene by NC statute. Many of the books that target middle and high school students contain explicit sexual content, prolific profanity, rape, and glorified suicide. Activist librarians are promoting literature to minors that most parents would be appalled to know their children are reading.

The Pavement Education Project team is concerned that top challenged books are being promoted to unsuspecting minors and unbeknownst to parents. Visit your child's school and ask about any celebrations. Visit the Banned Books Week webpage to learn more and hear from school staff who are actively highlighting books that are age inappropriate.
